Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer Project – Bureau of Cancer and Chronic Disease Control / Show Me Healthy Women Program (SMHW) offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for Missouri women who meet age, income and insurance guidelines. Their numbers are 573-522-2845 or 866-726-9926.
Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, Springfield – Provides free screening mammograms to uninsured and underinsured patients, support groups and mentoring programs, and financial aid for household expenses while in treatment. Their numbers are 417-862-3838 and 866-874-1915.

CancerCare Co-Payment Assistance Foundation – Helps people being treated for cancer afford the insurance co-payments on the prescription medicines they need. To be eligible you must meet certain criteria related to your diagnosis, treatment and financial situation. You must also have private insurance or Medicare that covers a portion of the prescribed chemotherapy or cancer drug. Financial help is not available for radiation treatment or symptom management.

Catholic Charities – Located in Wichita, KS, appointments are required for utility assistance and can be made by calling 316-264-8344 or 620-235-0633 on Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Catholic Charities (Our Daily Bread Food Pantry) – To receive food assistance in Wichita, KS, the individual must make a personal visit to the office during pantry hours. Items to bring include: a photo ID, proof of identification for all other people living in the household (i.e. social security card, birth certificate, medical card, school ID., etc.), and proof of address. Food Pantry times are Tuesday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – noon, and 4th Saturday of the month, 9 a.m. – noon. For more information, please call 316-264-8344, ext 1504.
Center of Hope – The Center of Hope assists families located in Wichita, KS in need by paying utility bills, thus enabling them to remain in their own homes. Appointments by telephone at 316-267-0222 on Monday 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Please note it is difficult to reach them by telephone and you should be persistent. If you are unable to obtain an appointment by phone on Mondays, and you have an eviction notice or utility shut-off notice, they do allow you to walk-in on Tuesday mornings to schedule an appointment for later in the week. The line begins forming early and they have a limited number of appointment times available, so most people must be there between 6:00 – 7:00 a.m.

Independent Living Resource Center – MERN program (Medical Equipment Recycling Network) – Durable medical equipment loans for all persons in need located in the Wichita, KS area. Stock varies based on donations received. Accepts donations of gently used medical equipment. Does not loan or take donations of hospital beds. Kansas Drug Card – Save up to 75% on Prescription medications for Kansas residents.
Partnership for Prescription Assistance – Assists qualifying patients who lack prescription coverage get the medicines they need through the public or private program that is right for them. To access the Partnership for Prescription Assistance call 1-888-477-2669.
Patient Advocate Foundation – Komen has partnered with Patient Advocate Foundation to launch a financial aid program allowing breast cancer patients greater monetary support services while involved in treatment and recovery. Patients needing assistance can call 855-824-7941.
Sedgwick County Prescription Drug Discount program – Any Sedgwick County resident without prescription plan benefit, uninsured, or if you have Medicare without supplemental prescription drug coverage may use the program. One card is issued per family and it provides discounts on medications. The discount card can only be utilized in participating pharmacies (over 75 pharmacies in Sedgwick County). The Stephanie Vest Foundation – Financial assistance to help families fighting cancer.
Victory in the Valley, Inc. – Cancer patients may receive assistance for prescriptions for pain and nausea through referrals from their physician. Victory in the Valley has established an Emergency Medical Fund (provided on a short-term basis) to assist with these needs. This fund is accessed through the direction of the patient’s physician/nurse, and the pharmacy is paid directly by Victory in the Valley after authorization. Wichita Transit-ParaTransit – Ground transportation services within Wichita city limits only for ADA eligible riders who cannot ride the bus due to a disability. To be eligible, you must submit an application. Once the application has been processed, individuals will receive a letter advising them of their eligibility status and information on how to use the service. Times are Monday-Friday from 5:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 6 a.m. – 6: 30 p.m. Reservations one week to one day in advance. No same day service provided. Call 316-352-4828 for details.
